And, as always…

What can Citizen Reform do that could make a difference?

The Full Story on the Border Fence, Continued

In our January meeting we discussed in depth the difficulties behind actually getting Congress to seriously fund and build a border fence.

In out upcoming meeting we will continue looking closely at this process:

  • The Texas Border Coalition - how this key, relatively unknown, special interest group impacts the chances of a fence
  • Duncan Hunter fights back
  • Beyond the fence:  the real issue is employing Illegal Aliens, a closer look at the revolution being caused by Arizona and Oklahoma's strict penalties against business - and how this is having a major positive effect;
  • Which leads us back to Texas!

An Expert Discusses the Perilous Stakes of the War on Terror

Our  next meeting will have its most in depth look yet at our war with Radical Islam and where things stand

  • Special Guest Speaker - a well known anti-terrorism expert will join us
  • Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell gave his annual national security threat assessment to the Senate Intelligence Committee last week.

    While increased security measures at home and abroad have caused al Qaeda to view the West, especially the U.S., as a harder target, we have seen an influx of new Western recruits into the tribal areas since mid-2006. We assess that al Qaeda's Homeland plotting is likely to continue to focus on prominent political, economic, and infrastructure targets designed to produce mass casualties, visually dramatic destruction, significant economic aftershocks, and/or fear among the population.

Earmarks: Are the Republicans Getting the Message?

  • A better understanding of earmarks
  • The recent Republican House retreat and what it says about the Party and regaining spending restraint as a hallmark of the "Republican brand"

See you at our Feb. 25 meeting!
