About Us
Citizen Reform means average, hard working, moral, patriotic Americans — tired of waiting for elected leaders to act responsibly — rising up and demanding common sense solutions to long neglected problems while protecting our freedoms and rights guaranteed by our Constitution.
The Citizen Reform movement is about keeping it simple: we mean to protect our freedom of speech and assembly, our security (internal and external), our fiscal integrity, and our culture. In short, today we are in critical need of reform — to return to principles that have made this nation great.
Citizen Reform means “real people”, with families, careers, faith, roots, — who “have a life” — meeting together in home groups, supporting one another, and communicating to Congress and State Governments. We wish to do so more effectively through our modern tools of internet, email, and fax, in record numbers and unprecedented unity.
We care about the following issues and will try to limit our scope to these:
- The erosion of free speech particularly attacks against the First Amendment rights of Christians, and we decry the general climate of PC creating fear and uncertainty as to what is allowable speech.
- Securing our borders and gaining control of illegal immigration.
- Recognizing that the “War on Terror” is really a war with Radical Islam, and that “terror” is only a tactic, not an enemy. We must support the actions necessary to defeat - not just co-exist, with this threat to our way of life.
- Getting a grip on the explosion of lobbyists, the scandals of earmarks, employing Congressional family members as lobbyists and with campaign funds, and the irresponsible over-spending by Congress in the form of the coming entitlement crisis. In short, the urgent need to re-impose fiscal responsibility in Washington. We must demand Congress work for the American people, not the highest bidder.
- Supporting positive Culture and opposing the decades long slide into vulgarization and nihilism our Hollywood “stars” as well as corporate interests seem to want to force upon us.
It is time moral and responsible Middle Americans, take a stand and take back our country – America: the country of moral values, the rule of law, freedom of speech and religion, a moral and fair free enterprise – (not corporate globalism), and the pride of 235 years of stability and international respect.
This is not about party politics, because both parties have been irresponsible. It is about moral, hard working, decent citizens, taking back control from the elites and the extremists.
Citizen Reform Home Groups
Introducing a new concept “Citizen Reform Home Groups”.
It is becoming increasingly apparent that America lacks moral and responsible leadership. Neither political party is listening to the people, while basic; common sense needs of the nation go un-addressed. Some observers have commented this is a time of the greatest disconnect between Washington and the people they have seen in their lifetime.
The recent Immigration battle, we saw unprecedented citizen action to oppose “Compreshensive Immigration Reform”. Quite simply, the people no longer believed the leadership and saw this as a fatally flawed attempt to force amnesty down our throats. Think of the powerful entities seriously committed to passing this law:
- big business
- the mainstream media
- liberal activists
- the Democratic majority in both Houses
- the White House.
Opposing this, we saw an extraordinary example of average citizens coming together to overcome these combined powers.
Yet those of us who have families, jobs, and "a life" find we have limited time to do "the political thing" even as much as writing letters to our Congressman. Our preference is to "go back to normal" and not deal with what many of us find depressing and annoying. Yet the threats to our freedom and the irresponsibility of our leadership cry out for a more involved citizenry, yes, even "citizen reform."
The concept that I am proposing is Citizen Reform Home Group — a monthly meeting, from 7:30 – 9:30, in a home, where average citizens can meet, become informed, and discuss strategies to realign the nation towards a return to morality and responsibility. Once the Group becomes large enough, the ability to make our voices heard would be tremendously magnified. If there were many Home Groups, the impact could be enormous.
These are times when the average citizen must become the informed and engaged citizen the Founding Fathers envisioned. We each have a responsibility to protect the American experiment in freedom, to do our part. Believe it or not, we can have a significant influence on our nation's policies, especially living so close to D.C., and can influence our local governments even more.
The Home Group host must strive to make the meetings interesting, informative, and motivating. Speakers must attend and share their expertise. Those in attendance would become committed to return, and each month new attendees would cause the group to grow. Possibly, if God wills, it could be like a revival, a blazing wildfire of intensity until we get this country back on the right path of morality and responsibility.

FAQ’s
Why would I sign up for another thing to do? I’m already too busy!
Unless average Americans like us begin to speak up, the powers that be will just move on and continue imposing bad policy on us. My vision is for average middle class family people like us, who care about this country, would be willing to give one night per month to defend themselves and this nation. If there are enough of us, and we do this on a sustained basis, the politicians will come to us, and we will have a powerful voice.
Isn't that why we have representatives?
In case you haven't noticed, they are not listening.
What about grass roots organizations that are already fighting for us?
They are great, but in the end they are only as strong as long as they truly represent real people who show they care. We just can't delegate our country to specialists, we have to take a personal stand or we are going to lose everything. We can greatly multiply the organizations effectiveness if there is evidence that real people are paying attention and show they really care. Our biggest enemy is apathy.
Aren't you exaggerating a little? Are we really in all that much danger?
Come to the meetings, hear the speakers (yes we will have speakers) and then decide. Your freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and national security are truly at risk.
Would we really have any influence?
I have been politically involved all my life, my son Jonathan works on Capitol Hill, and I have many friends working for grass roots organizations. We know the sad truth is that very few people pay attention, and citizens hardly ever make the policy makers accountable. They rely on our short memories, our distracted, busy lives, and unfortunately, our apathy. Plus, the so-called "identical form letters" — you know — the ones we click on from an email from a grass roots organization, have little clout and are dismissed by a very jaded staff culture on the Hill. The reason behind the recent immigration victory was that politicians knew the people knew what they were talking about and they were watching closely.
